“Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.”- Proverbs 19:20-21
How many times have you asked someone’s advice on something, but then you end up just doing your own thing instead? What happened when you did your own thing? Did everything work out perfectly, or did you crash and burn? We always think that we know what is best, but that is not always the case. No matter what we may think, it is God’s plan that always prevails. In the Lord’s Prayer we say, “Thy will be done…” but do we actually mean it every time? Sometimes we want our own will to be done because what we want to do might seem more desirable. Most of the time what God wants us to do will be rough, scary, and uncertain. But we can take comfort that God will be by our side the whole time because we are being obedient to Him – and He loves that! God’s purpose for our lives prevails no matter what…pray that he will reveal His plan for you today.
Dearest Heavenly Father, thank you that your plans are far better than ours. Please guide us through each and every day, and help us to obey the commands that you give us in your Word. Help us not to look to our own selfish desires, but to look to you instead. Give us the wisdom to accept your instruction. In Jesus most holy and precious name, amen.
